Meat&More turns high-volume retail transactions into reliable finance data with SAP BTP
From food processing to retail stores, Meat&More manages the full chain. Through its own Bon'Ap stores and via its Buurtslagers brand in retail partnerships with Carrefour, Delhaize and Colruyt, the company handles an enormous volume of daily retail transactions.
For finance, those transactions are far more than receipts. They are the foundation for revenue recognition, payment control, invoicing, and reporting accuracy. With that scale, manual processing simply no longer matched the business. Using SAP S/4HANA and SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP), Meat&More transformed its retail accounting flows into a standardised, automated, and future-ready finance process.

The ambition: reliable data, less manual work
More than 20,000 cash register tickets are processed by Meat&More on regular weekdays, rising up to 30,000+ transactions during the weekends. Across approximately 200 points of sale, this created a major operational burden for accounting teams. Manual reconciliation and fragmented data flows made it difficult to maintain control and ensure everyone worked from the same figures.
The ambition was clear: digitise the end-to-end transaction flow - from the cash register to finance and reporting - to reduce effort, improve reliability, and create a single source of truth across the organisation. Together with Flexso, Meat&More fundamentally redesigned how retail sales data flows into finance.
“Our accounting department saves more than 10 days per month in accounting work alone, excluding additional productivity gains for store employees.”
A standardised, scalable architecture with SAP S/4HANA and SAP BTP
To handle high transaction volumes across multiple sales channels, the solution had to be both robust and scalable. Meat&More chose to maximise standard functionality in SAP S/4HANA and SAP BTP, using SAP Integration Suite to connect cash register streams with the SAP ERP landscape. This architecture was intentionally designed around standardisation:
standard SAP services instead of custom-heavy development
consistent data models across retail transaction flows
scalable integration patterns for future store growth
By building on SAP BTP cloud services, Meat&More created an integration landscape that can evolve with the business, making SAP BTP the backbone that makes high-volume retail finance manageable.
At the same time, the front-end app for he accounting team was fully tailored to the way they work, using Fiori elements. Validations and corrections can now be completed at the press of a button from one central app that is easy to navigate. To speed up adoption, the team worked with mock-up workshops. This meant accounting knew exactly what the solution would look like in advance, significantly reducing training time.
Automated flows from shop floor to finance
The implemented process automates multiple critical finance flows in SAP: processing cash register data, posting revenue, controlling payment methods (cash, gift cards, vouchers, etc.), and supporting invoicing. As a result, the accounting role shifts away from manual booking towards structured control and validation. This automation also covers professional customer invoicing: Meat&More creates around 30,000 invoices per year via its branches, and this is part of what gets automated in the overall flow.
SAP BTP as a foundation for scalable finance operations
With continued growth in store numbers and sales channels, Meat&More needed a solution that could scale without redesigning the entire landscape each time the business expanded.
integrations can easily be extended to new POS systems
standardised models improve maintainability and governance
innovation stays aligned with SAP’s future platform strategy
The result is a finance process that grows with the business instead of slowing it down.
Measurable efficiency leading to financial control
By replacing manual entry and reconciliation with automated, integrated processing, finance becomes faster, more reliable, and easier to control. At the same time, transaction data becomes structured, consistent, and available across the SAP landscape, improving visibility into what happens on the shop floor and strengthening reporting quality across the organisation. For Meat&More, retail accounting is not about processing receipts. It is about ensuring that thousands of daily transactions become trusted financial data. With SAP Business Technology Platform and SAP S/4HANA, the company replaced fragmented manual work with a scalable finance foundation built for control, insight, and growth.
