• Maintain the funding rules in a centralized location
  As an end user you only need to create a funding model once and from then on, the rules will be applied to all proposals & projects linked to this funding model. No need to re-enter the same data over and over again. There is only one single source of truth.

• Retrieve all relevant rules from the system
  The application stores a wide variety of preconfigured funding rules. You only have to link your project to the correct funding model for all the rules to be applied.

• Report accurately and easily to the funder
  You are able to link FICO postings to the Funding Model Management budgeting categories. This way you can report the actuals of a project accurately according to the budgeting categories the funder prefers.
• Make an exception on project level
  Flexibility is very important. Because of that, it is foreseen that some rules can be specified on project level. Assigning project team member to rules on role level, changing ceiling amounts or overhead rates… are all examples of adjustments you can do at project level.
• Experience a simple and intuitive front end
  Business users are empowered by a front end that has the advantages of SAP Fiori-based applications. It is intuitive, responsive, and easy to use, with a modern UX that can be accessed from any device.

• Get an overview of all funding models
  The application provides an easy overview of all funding models, their validity period, and other information. The app makes it possible to filter and search for a specific funding model. You can click through to get more insight on the specific funding model details.
• Create and update funding models
  Funding models can be created and updated in order to track the external budget and report towards the funder. The funder rules can be stored in the header or category level, such as ceiling amounts, flat rates, overhead rates, own contribution rates and valuation of personnel costs.

• Adapt funder rules on project level
  When the funder’s format for a specific project diverges a bit from a standard funding model, it is possible to simply adapt certain funder rules for that project to reflect and implement any exceptions within the project.
• Map cost elements to the external cost categories
  The cost elements are the link between the internal and external cost structure. This way, all actuals will automatically be assigned to the correct external cost categories. Creating a report towards the funder is only one click away.
