Whether you want to stay on premise, move to the cloud of combine both: with HS4S you can chart a path that fits your organization.** ## A new chapter for SAP HCM SAP’s roadmap for HCM is clear: **cloud-first**. Every major innovation lands in SAP’s cloud-based [SAP SuccessFactors](https://www.flexso.com/en/solutions/human-resources/hr-services-sap-successfactors) platform: from the Joule AI copilot and pay transparency features to alumni access and payroll analytics. Support for the current SAP HCM runs until 2027 or 2030 with extended maintenance. So, many organisations are already on their cloud transition journey. Some have moved entirely to SAP SuccessFactors. Others run a hybrid landscape, combining innovative cloud products with familiar on-premise HCM solutions. Still, as every **organization is unique, so is their cloud journey**. Not everyone is ready to rapidly transition from their familiar on-prem HR solution to cloud-based SuccessFactors. You may want to keep your HR processes – definitely your core HR – on-premise. Or you may want to gradually move to the cloud, without a SuccessFactors big-bang. SAP HCM for S/4HANA offers the same key functionalities as SAP ERP HCM: Payroll, Personnel Management, Time management, and most of the current Talent Management functions. So what makes it different? - **Performance and new features**: H4S4 runs on the SAP HANA in-memory database, which offers impressive speed gains and new possibilities like declustered payroll tables used for implementing payroll control center. - **User experience:** SAP has introduced UX enhancements that make daily work smoother for HR teams and employees. - **Continuity**: SAP delivers localisations and legal updates for H4S4 payroll features until at least 2040. Stick to on-premise: H4S4 On-Premise** Want to – or have to, due to legislation – keep your HCM system on-premise and leverage your past investments in the solution? Choose **SAP HCM for SAP S/4 HANA on-premise** to keep running your Time and Payroll modules on premise, either in your own datacenter or via a hosting partner. All you have to do is **upgrade the suite** to convert to H4S4 on a HANA database. ## H4S4 on-premise suits you if you: - want to build on past investments - prefer to keep infrastructure on premise - operate in an industry where cloud-based solutions aren’t an option (e.g. defence) **2. Move to the cloud: SAP Rise and H4S4 Private Cloud Edition (PCE)** Ready for the cloud, but not for a full SuccessFactors transition? **H4SF PCE** allows you to migrate at your own pace, keeping custom code intact. SAP supports the migration and takes care of the system afterwards: upgrades, system copies, support packs, etc. ## H4S4 Private Cloud suits you if you: - want to leverage past investments - want to move Time and Payroll to the cloud without disruption - are looking to shift from CapEx to OpEx with a single subscription - want to run on a hyperscaler like Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google Cloud Do note: the PCE version does not allow running Talent Management modules. If those are part of your roadmap, a hybrid approach with SuccessFactors may be the better fit. ## How to decide on your personal HR roadmap? Every organization has a different starting point and different priorities. The right path depends on factors like your current landscape, your cloud readiness, regulatory requirements and how your HR roadmap aligns with the broader business strategy.
