Instead of a heavily customized system, smartphoto decided to migrate from their legacy SAP ECC environment to a modern, scalable SAP cloud ERP - to ensure a simpler, more flexible, and future-ready system. The project was meticulously planned with a preliminary study, which smartphoto's CFO, Jonas Persyn, credits as a key factor in its success.
Standardization as a deliberate choice
Rather than customizing heavily, smartphoto chose to stay close to SAP best practices, keeping around 99% of the solution standard. This approach minimizes complexity and ensures that the system remains flexible and ready for expansion. Thanks to SAP’s modular design, the company can now roll out new functions or scale into new markets without re-engineering its core systems.
